Derren Brown TV Shows – A Journey Through Illusion and Influence

This unofficial fan page explores the extraordinary televised works of psychological illusionist Derren Brown, from Channel 4 to Netflix. Prepare your mind. It may not be entirely your own.

Mind Control (2000–2003)

Derren Brown’s TV debut introduced the world to “psychological illusion.” Using a cocktail of suggestion, misdirection, and manipulation, Brown flipped traditional magic on its head. These early episodes established the tone: clever, clean-cut, and quietly terrifying.

Trick of the Mind (2004–2006)

A cross between street magic and social experiment, this series took Derren’s cerebral craft on the road. From predicting thoughts to influencing strangers’ decisions in public spaces, the show blurred the line between reality and illusion. If you thought you had free will… think again.

Trick or Treat (2007–2008)

Participants selected a “Trick” or “Treat” card… not knowing Derren had already decided their fate. This series explored darker corners of human behavior through staged experiences that were often life-changing, sometimes disturbing, and always unforgettable.

The Events (2009)

From “predicting” the National Lottery to convincing people they were invisible, Derren pushed the boundaries of live television. One episode involved controlling the choices of thousands simultaneously. Harmless fun? Maybe. A subtle experiment in mass suggestion? Almost definitely.

Derren Brown Investigates (2010)

Derren stepped into the shoes of a skeptic. Investigating psychics, ghost hunters, and alternative healers, he questioned the extraordinary while remaining calm, charming, and politely skeptical. Spoiler: belief is a powerful thing. Too powerful, sometimes.

The Experiments (2011)

This BAFTA-winning series featured high-stakes psychological experiments. Highlights include convincing someone to take the blame for a murder they didn’t commit and orchestrating a robbery. These weren’t tricks — they were social experiments that questioned our sense of morality, obedience, and identity.

Apocalypse (2012)

Derren made one man believe the world had ended. Yes, really. This two-part special placed a participant in a simulated zombie apocalypse to force him to value life. Equal parts terrifying and tender — a mind game with a message.

Fear and Faith (2012)

Could belief alone remove fear? With a fake pharmaceutical trial as the backdrop, Derren explored the placebo effect and emotional resilience. The power of belief, it turns out, is very real — even when the beliefs are not.

The Great Art Robbery (2013)

Derren trained a group of pensioners to steal a valuable painting. A heist special with heart, humor, and layers of misdirection. If you think this was about art, think again — it was about judgement, assumptions, and the underestimated.

Pushed to the Edge (2016)

How far will someone go under social pressure? Derren built an elaborate scenario that culminated in one question: will a person push someone off a rooftop? This show didn’t just entertain — it haunted.

Miracle (2016)

Filmed on stage, Derren explored the controversial world of faith healing — exposing fakery while still demonstrating the astonishing effects of belief, hope, and suggestion. Rational and respectful, yet utterly mind-bending.

Sacrifice (2018 – Netflix)

Derren created a fake experiment where a participant was unknowingly tested on their empathy and courage — to see if he’d take a bullet for a stranger. No card tricks. Just identity, bias, and human transformation.

Secret (2019 – Netflix / Broadway)

“Secret” brought Derren’s brilliance to Broadway. Personal, intimate, and filled with new routines and stories, it combined stage magic with psychological sleight-of-hand. And of course, an ending no one could predict… except Derren.

Showman (2022–2023)

One of his most moving shows to date, “Showman” focused on the theme of connection. Less trickery, more vulnerability. Yet somehow still filled with the kind of mind-reading that makes audiences forget how to breathe.

A Hidden Thread: Subliminal Influence in Action

Throughout Derren’s TV career, there’s been a recurring theme: you’re not as in control as you think. On this website, dear reader, you may notice small patterns. A name. A number. A phrase. Nothing to concern yourself with…

…until it all makes sense, all at once, on a page you haven’t yet discovered. A reveal? A prediction? Perhaps. But only if you keep reading. It’s already been set up. You’ve already seen it. You just didn’t know what you were seeing.

This entire website might just be one big trick. But we’ll never tell you where it ends.
